Chairman’s Welcome

Ali Capper

Chairman of Herefordshire Agricultural Club 2024-2025

Herefordshire Agricultural Club was set up in 1964 by four prominent members of Herefordshire agriculture as a private dining club for the county’s farming fraternity. We have a limited membership of 68 always with a healthy waiting list. Members, many of which are National Award and Nuffield Scholars winners, are from diverse sectors where the livestock includes poultry, pigs, goats, cattle and sheep and the produce includes soft fruits, blackcurrants, pears, apples, hops, asparagus, vineyards, blueberries, grass seed and of course arable crops.

As well as this members include professional advisors, agricultural specialists, agronomists and machinery providers. The club meets 6 times a year over the winter months for dinner with a speaker and in the summer the retiring chairman provides an afternoon based around their enterprise followed by supper, normally at the Chairman’s home. On occasional years there are trips to far flung agricultural industries including Argentina, Canada, Australia and Kenya  as well as Italy, France, and Hungary and closer to home trips have included Scotland, Wales and over the years many English Counties.

New members will be considered through nomination by a current member to the club secretary, and by attending two or more meetings as a guest in the year prior to the AGM.

For further information about the club, or if you would like to be considered for membership and be added to the waiting list please email your details to info@herefordshireagriculturalclub.co.uk.
